Factoid Friday

This week on April 4th, 1902 a chartered train carried about 250 Gusties to Northfield, MN for the first state oratorical contest. The use of ebony and gold banners on the train trip was the basis for our College colors.

Fun Fact Friday!

In 1900, the Democratic Presidential nominee, William Jennings Bryan (and future Secretary of State under Woodrow Wilson) brought his campaign to St. Peter, giving many Gustavus students their first opportunity to hear a nationally recognized speaker. Eleven years later, President William Howard Taft came to St. Peter on his campaign train.
