Factoid Friday

In the fall of 1951, the first classes in geography where taught by Mary Alice Eaten Ericson. There were only three course offerings in geography that year. Today, the department has six full-time instructors teaching over 20 courses. This year, the Gustavus Geography Department celebrates its 60th anniversary along with the Sesquicentennial!

Blast from the Past!

In this photograph, the campus community celebrates Gustavus Adolphus College’s 50th year in 1912. Behind them is the old depot-sized gymnasium, which was torn down to make room for the Johnson Student Union (the ‘new’ athletic space). Meals were available in the old gymnasium for 25 cents.
