The first intercollegiate basketball game was played by Gustie women. This week in 1903, Gustavus played Mankato Normal (now known as Minnesota State University, Mankato) and lost 16 to 2. The game was played at the St. Peter Opera House, which ironically burned down just two nights later, on February 16, 1903.
