Midnight Express. It’s a time-honored tradition that every Gustie studying for finals must experience. It is the time of year when students must leave the catacombs of the library and emerge slightly red-eyed to laugh, eat, relax and listen to entertainment by the Gustavus Jazz Lab Band. This is also the place to watch the College president rolls up his suit sleeves and serve 3000 chicken wings.  A time when professors serve the students ice cream instead of exams. The registrar is saying “Don’t forget to take cheese with your pretzel” instead of “Don’t forget to take your last foreign language credit!”  Welcome to finals! Welcome to Midnight Express! Here is Political Science Professor Kate Knutson and former Chaplain Brian Johnson ’80 serving students in 2009.
