“In front of Old Main, on the grass across from Hello Walk, lies a mysterious rock that changes color every week or so. This colorful tradition has been splashed in the moonlight with hundreds of colors, mottos, and Greek letters. The noble bust in the mall, that of Gustavus Adolphus (commonly “Old Gus”), has also witnessed with an imperious eye many similar night raids. He has worn watermelon and pumpkin helmets, been painted, muffled in scarves, worn beanies, smoked cigarettes, sucked pacifiers — in short, lived a well – rounded life.”
