The Gustavus Sign at the top of College Avenue is iconic but it has not always been the first thing you see driving up the hill. In what year did the sign first appear?

C. 1959; the sign was designed by Professor Don Gregory, and installed thanks in large part to the generous donations by the classes of 1953 and 1958.
